Your Costa Rica Expat Tour Guide

I am a naturalized citizen of Costa Rica. I first arrived (from the U.S.) in 2001 to broker a deal that sold one of the country’s premier private universities to a U.S. publicly-held education company. Since 2004 I’ve arranged eco-intensive Costa Rica vacation tours to locations throughout the country, as well as Nicaragua, Panama and Colombia. In addition to serving as an agent with the Coldwell Banker Dominical Realty team since 2015, I offer Expat Consulting and conduct guided Expat Tours.

In my former life, prior to becoming an expat in Costa Rica, I practiced tax and corporate transactional law in the Carolinas. I also have extensive experience as a business valuation consultant and mergers and acquisitions advisor to companies in a wide variety of industries.

I married my Colombian born, but Costa Rica naturalized, wife in 2009. We are the parents of seven grown children. I love exploring the nature of Costa Rica and I am a life-long surfer. I’ve been a blogger about all things Costa Rican for the past decade and I’ve published the popular eBook entitled The Definitive Guide to Costa Rica Expat Living.

I am a member of the Costa Rica Global Association of Realtors (CRGAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). I am a 2021 and 2022 member of Coldwell Banker’s Diamond Society, representing the top 10% of international Coldwell Banker sales associates. I hold the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation from the National Association of Realtors. I am also a Coldwell Banker Global Luxury Specialist.

My “MO” (Modus Operandi) is to be an unbiased agent/consultant who will expose you to the two very distinct worlds of Costa Rica southern zone mountains and beaches, so that you can make the absolute best choice between them.

How best to sum up the Costa Rica real estate market in the first half of 2025?Too much supply and way too little demand. Now, admittedly, that's not the way I thought this year would shake out...But it hasn't altogether "shaken out" yet. We've got a good six months to go.Nevertheless, the slow-down that really started in late 2023 and continued throughout 2024 has not subsided....
